Beth Thomas, a science teacher at GFH, is headed to Antarctica, but before she left she educated her students on the ins and outs of Antarctica. Working with her team, and Kathy Nelson, our Secondary TSA, students read the book Endurance, the story of Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic expedition. They also learned about the climate, land forms, history, etc. of Antarctica. As a culminating project, students wrote, illustrated, and recorded children's stories about Antarctica. Beth and I worked with students on creating the stories using the Office Mix add-in for PowerPoint, and a variety of paint programs for their illustrations. The stories are an amazing example of how technology can truly transform classroom learning! Check them out on Beth's Blog: http://geoeducationexplorer.weebly.com/resources.html
